Problems 7.8
Question 2
The equations you require will be reviewed when you need to use them. Initially, this question starts by calculating some of the physical conditions given by the powder forming the packed bed, which then becomes fluidised. You will use this data in the Kozeny Carman equation, combined with the bed weight per unit area equation, which gives the equation for minimum fluidising velocity. You should know what all these terms mean before you start the problems.
A packed bed consisting of 1.96 kg of solids of density 2.8 g cm-3, is contained in a cylindrical vessel of 10 cm internal diameter, and the bed height is 20 cm. |
